If there was such a thing as a comedown from a movie, this song would be the perfect soundtrack for the moments after you watch Kids. Off of the 1999 Soul Capsule EP "Overcome", this minimal tune transcended its time to remain fresh and relevant even in today's crowded house landscape. Organ drones, ethereal vocals, and a steady beat make Lady Science a must-hear tune for when you're coming down or just getting started.

JULIA LOSFELT YOU TOOK YOUR TIME MOUNT KIMBIE COVER

Looking for a chill Sunday track? Julia Losfelt has got you covered with her cover of Mount Kimbie's  You Took Your Time.  This was the first track in my stream this morning, and damn. Both tracks are great but hold different things. Losfelt's version uses the same ambient background sounds but switches out the percussion for guitar licks and chillwave soundscapes. It's stripped down and minimal, but in a way that still retains your interest. Her vocals have this curious power that leave you wanting to hear what's next.  The bass towards the end is a nice touch as well, subtle and complimenting. I am trying to tell you that you'll like it. Check it out!

NICOLAS JAAR LIVE AT SONAR 2012

I want to write/ find new music but I just.can't.stop.listening to this Sonar Lab session for Nicolas Jaar. I do not care that it is from 2012. Also, after listening to it a million times you will start to feel like friends with the voice over gentleman and his thick Spanish accent. You will begin to only pronounce Nicolas Jaar's name the way he does.

If you have no attention span (no judgement I typically fall into that boat) cut right to minute 18 and listen for five minutes at what might be the greatest intro to drop combos I've ever heard.

San Francisco based Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 has had quite an impressive 6 months. Garnering attention from producers and djs like The Magician, Viceroy, and B.Traits, who played his latest single on BBC1, he feels unstoppable. He's got a laid back house style and compliments that by infusing chillwave elements into his sound. His single Be Mine is expertly built. Lots of synth layers, the track starts off soft and progresses to a banging beat that drives it all the way to the dance floor. Be Mine is out via Anjunadeep.

Also a heads up for the SF kids - He's opening for Duke Dumont and Cyril Hahn at the Mezzanine on July 27. GO TO THIS (tickets).

THE PASSENGERS LET HER GO PEER KUSIV REMIX

While this came out in December (ancient I know), it's still a fantastic track and well worth a listen. German producer Peer Kusiv reworks The Passengers' indie-folk single Let Her Go beautifully. It's simple and pretty. He draws the acoustic sounds of the original out and adds a nice minimal touch that embellishes the track rather than over powering it.  This rings back a bit to an earlier post we did on Fennec & Wolf's edit of The Lumineers Stubborn Love.

Y U M E (pronounced You-May) is Jesse Taylor, 18 year old DJ/producer from NY, and is one to watch for sure. "Admire" is amazing in my opinion  not for what it evokes when listening to it (feels like you're in a dream floating through space), but for the deft incorporation of so many different styles/genres. Hiphop style beats, transient soundscapes, and a sparkly melody that pops up here and there. Get lost in it.
