Let's just start with an excerpt of the Facebook Bio:

Wolfman epitomizes what I love about the throwback 80s electronic genre. Super treble synth melodies, a bass line that sounds like a crime fighting movie montage accompaniment, and some nice added touches, like the Teen Wolf excerpt. Such a badass track.

Also included is Beauty Is the Light. I kind of fell down the rabbit hole with this label and artist and couldn't stop. Beauty is a heavy banging house track that could quite possibly knock down walls. I really can't say enough good things about L'Equipe du Son or his Dutch label Silhouette Records. Check them out!

Watch out for the wide, offbeat bass that wants to take over your soul about three quarters of the way through. So good.

LET'S GET WEIRD :: NAVID IZADI FEELIN' PURPLE

We'd like to introduce you to San Francisco's very own Navid Izadi, and his new EP Feelin' Purple out on Wolf + Lamb. Let's just begin with the fact that this title track is AMAZING. Izadi excels in simplicity of sound and in turn creates something so easy and good that it's still taking me time to process. We've got a max of 5-6 different layers, a rarity in the electronic world or trends we see today ( excluding minimal, DUH, and even then it's like 30 ambient pops and squiggles).

The super fresh Casio beats mixed with organ and a hazy house bass take up a majority of this track, and then he sings. DAYUM. Feelin' Purple channels Prince for sure on this and it's nasty. Like in the good way nasty. Like it makes your body want to move in new ways and you scrunch your nose a bit because your brain can't process the awesomeness coming into your ears. Seriously are you still reading this? LISTEN TO IT.

This is Brynjolfur's debut for Eskimo Recordings out on 15 July. Swiss duo Black Magic Pharao take this chill sleepy track and turn it into a deep house dance adventure. They retain the core of the original and intensify it by adding layers of marimbas, a deep bass, and some obscure vocals. That probably sounds like a bag of crazy, but I assure you that the result is awesome. A perfect addition to any summer mix!

ELEKFANTZ WISH

Mystery producer Elekfantz re-releases this track to celebrate the 100th birthday of Muddy Waters this year. Wish slowly eases into its groove, and the minute or so wait is more than worth it. It's a dance track, but you wouldn't be able to tell by the BPM. Elekfantz blends the sample so well into a slow disco jam that feels right on the verge of pushing further, but restrains itself. It's clean and chill as fuck so just enjoy the excellent mix.

Alex metric is at it again! This time with a remix if Foals' Bad Habit. It's a tight and banging remix utilizing frontman Yannis Philippakis' voice and backing them up with some great tropical marimba midlines and a kicking bass. It's apparent that Metric is truely a pro at this, placing breaks and builds at all the right points. An excellent contribution to the indie electro genre. I'm mean really, it's freaking on point.

STREAM Foals - Bad Habit (Alex Metric Remix)

LINDSTRØM VOS-SAKO-RV FRED FALKE REMIX

French house producer and DJ Fred Falke takes a nice turn on Lindstrøm's track Vos-sako-rv and it is an utter delight. A big fan of both producers, there is something to be said when a remix is done not just for the sake of it, and to really create something unique. Arguably more toned down than his normal pop selections, this is a nice palate cleanser coming from Falke. Lindstrøm's original features some heavy base and a lot of synth beats reminicent of a tripped out ride into space. Falke maintains the overall feel while delivering something entirely new out of the main part of the track. The synth melody is there, but he strips the original bass and adds some strings and a house bass and middle line that makes this track explode. Side by side below for your comaprison. Enjoy!

PHEONIX TRYING TO BE COOL EDWIN VAN CLEEF REMIX

Ready for another summer jam? Not normally a fan of Phoenix, this remix takes them to a whole new level. Van Cleef speeds it up considerably and adding some great poppy synth touches and a great beat  to back up the vocals. He really transforms this into something great.

Pierce Fulton adds his progressive touch to Atlas Genius' indie jam Symptoms. It's a brilliant pump up tune mixing in a nice balance of upbeat progressive chords, guitar, and piano, all showcasing their minor capabilities for this happy summer track. It's a succinct remix that plays towards mainstream, but damn is it fun! Be sure to bring this one to the pool.

The Golden Pony, the Brooklyn "we have afros and make disco" duo are out with their remix of Avicii's Wake Me Up,  and thank god, because the original needed some help.  This disco dance makeover suits the song well, especially as we feel the original is slightly sub-par. It's a disco dance party jam that is sure to take off for this summer. Hat tip to this makeover supreme.

San Francisco based Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 has had quite an impressive 6 months. Garnering attention from producers and djs like The Magician, Viceroy, and B.Traits, who played his latest single on BBC1, he feels unstoppable. He's got a laid back house style and compliments that by infusing chillwave elements into his sound. His single Be Mine is expertly built. Lots of synth layers, the track starts off soft and progresses to a banging beat that drives it all the way to the dance floor. Be Mine is out via Anjunadeep.

Also a heads up for the SF kids - He's opening for Duke Dumont and Cyril Hahn at the Mezzanine on July 27. GO TO THIS (tickets).

Italian producer and East London import Riva Starr (Stefano Miele) is out with his first album since 2010! Most of the album so far is a bit poppier (and arguable more accessible for mainstream) staying along the lines of his early January release of Absence. His track No Man's Land takes it away though. Carmen Consoli's vocals are fantastic, and the "triptangowhatever" vibe is a perfect blend of cuban chillout. Bonus if you're a nerd and think it sounds like that one song from the Fifth Element. Hand In Hand is out July 1st through Snatch! Records. Dig it.

STREAM Riva Starr Feat. Carmen Consoli - No Man's Land


UPDATE: Another great track off the new album! Hot Chip-esque with an unstoppable beat and some pretty sick guitar layers, Nobody's Fool is just fun.  I am loving the increased collaboration with Rssll on this album and damn, just YES.  What more could you want? There are harmonized "WHO" sounds that are sprinkled everywhere followed by the overwhelming urge to get up and dance. Seriously stop reading this and just hit play!

BONDAX GIVING IT ALL

Bondax, comprised of George Townsend and Adam Kaye, are out with a killer new dance track Giving It All. Not leaving their well known downtempo style fully behind, they inject this track with a chilled out smoothness that could easily place it into dance floor or after party. It's poppy without being overbearing and tiptoes without fully committing to the genre. The restraint found between the bass and the vocals as the track progresses make it a shoe-in for the replay button.

Currently unreleased, we'll have to wait and see whose vocals are behind this great new track.

Let's see what we can do with little-to-no info about this artist. 

Here we go with some Cupcakes! House disco awesomeness out of LA, we have been going nuts over  the tracks Caesar Salad and Treasure Fingered all day. While they're listed as house, I'd say this falls way more into the disco genre. It's super dance worthy and the sampling is excellent with an unrelenting tempo that doesn't get annoying (always a plus). There are only three tracks listed so far, but show them some love and check out their page (link below). If these tracks are any indication of what is to come, we'll be eagerly awaiting the next release!

VICEROY & FRENCH HORN REBELLION FRIDAY NIGHTS

In what might be the best summer collaboration ever, Viceroy and the French Horn Rebellion (they did the killer Girls remix) pair up to release Friday Nights. There are hand claps everywhere too. It's an easy tune, heavy on the 80s synth bass that wants to just montage your life away. Just imagine your favorite summer movie from the 80s, this is that music.
