COSMO SHELDRAKE RICH FT. ANNA ROO

Slowly ease yourself in to Monday with Cosmo Sheldrake's Rich featuring Anna Roo on vocals. The 23 year old British producer/musician creates a nice little world with this track. Roo's vocals are quite and cute and the minimalist sound goes well with the accompanying percussion and harp. The acordian also lends itself to an Amelie-like cuteness that is hard to resist. His sound is definitely against the grain and I struggle to classify it as one genre or another - which makes it stand out so much more.

Italian producer and East London import Riva Starr (Stefano Miele) is out with his first album since 2010! Most of the album so far is a bit poppier (and arguable more accessible for mainstream) staying along the lines of his early January release of Absence. His track No Man's Land takes it away though. Carmen Consoli's vocals are fantastic, and the "triptangowhatever" vibe is a perfect blend of cuban chillout. Bonus if you're a nerd and think it sounds like that one song from the Fifth Element. Hand In Hand is out July 1st through Snatch! Records. Dig it.

UPDATE: Another great track off the new album! Hot Chip-esque with an unstoppable beat and some pretty sick guitar layers, Nobody's Fool is just fun.  I am loving the increased collaboration with Rssll on this album and damn, just YES.  What more could you want? There are harmonized "WHO" sounds that are sprinkled everywhere followed by the overwhelming urge to get up and dance. Seriously stop reading this and just hit play!

BAIO SUNBURN MODERN [SESSION VICTIM REMIX]

Session Victim is brought to you by DJs Hauke Freer + Matthias Reiling out of Berlin. Their remix of Biao's Sunburn Modern is released from their third and most recent host/label, Grecco Roman.  This track has one of my favorite sounds ever in music: a bass that hums along almost as if a car with too- loud music were driving by. But it's subtle, and you barely hear it, and that is why it drives me crazy in such a good way. It's that wanting and these guys have perfected it to an intoxicating degree.

The original by The Naked + Famous was one of my favorite songs of 2012. I seriously cannot believe I missed this remix of it - and one this good at that. White Sea Wait for the 2m mark and your face will get blown off. It's rad.

CHESTER WATSON PHANTOM

Chester Watson is 16 years old, has put out 3 mixtapes, and has produced some of his own instrumentals. So what have you done today? Probably not enough. His lyrics are sharp and distinct, and he executes his style with the delivery of a much more mature rapper/ lyricist. "Phantom" is precise and Watson works his way steadily through the track over a chill vintage beat. I love that this sounds like 90s stoner/hip hop and think that he is definitely one to watch out for.

Also check out his video for "Shapeshifter" in which he mentions Polly Pockets, which basically means I have to love him for ever.

Call it a palate cleanser- if you will. This track from Nuages brings us to a place that gets a little weird. Don't question it, just go with it. You'll get over the Enya vibe on the second or third play. A nice Allen Watts sample too.
