QUADRON HEY LOVE CLASSIXX REMIX

Danish duo Quadron get the latest makeover treatment from LA duo Classixx on their single Hey Love. At first I liked this based solely on the fact that it could give me an opportunity to make people uncomfortable while dancing to it's wonky beat, but once the piano came it I was hooked and it's been on repeat all morning. It's bright and has a unique beat sequence that hooks you in until the second half where it all unfolds. Classixx does their usual fine job on this remix and some nice touches come out the more you listen to it, always a bonus.

LET'S GET WEIRD :: NAVID IZADI FEELIN' PURPLE

We'd like to introduce you to San Francisco's very own Navid Izadi, and his new EP Feelin' Purple out on Wolf + Lamb. Let's just begin with the fact that this title track is AMAZING. Izadi excels in simplicity of sound and in turn creates something so easy and good that it's still taking me time to process. We've got a max of 5-6 different layers, a rarity in the electronic world or trends we see today ( excluding minimal, DUH, and even then it's like 30 ambient pops and squiggles).

The super fresh Casio beats mixed with organ and a hazy house bass take up a majority of this track, and then he sings. DAYUM. Feelin' Purple channels Prince for sure on this and it's nasty. Like in the good way nasty. Like it makes your body want to move in new ways and you scrunch your nose a bit because your brain can't process the awesomeness coming into your ears. Seriously are you still reading this? LISTEN TO IT.

MOULLINEX TO BE CLEAR RAC REMIX

We over here at HS love it when RAC (André Allen Anjos) does a remix of a less mainstream song. Case in point with his latest remix of Moullinex's To Be Clear. Punchy synth layers and James Bond-esque vocals lead the way on this one. Maybe not quite a dance track, but a great amp-you-up-while-you-walk-down-the-street jam. It out on the latest Discotexas Records compilation, Discotexas Picnic II. RAD.

 STREAM Moullinex - To Be Clear RAC Mix

MEREKI BLUE LAKE

This is LA based Mereki. She is adorable and makes adorable music. Her new single Blue Lake is catchy as hell and has this amazing synth - electro vibe going on. She takes all these familiar elements: 80's ish pop melodics, synth, pop lyrics, and mixes them in a refreshing and subtle way. The beat stays very slow and steady which lets the vocals and synth more around with some freedom. It's good, it's Sunday, it's science - just go with it.

Lady-singer Banks officially unhides herself with the release of her new single, "Fall Over." Synth pop with an edge. You'll get a totally different sound than you were expecting, and that is exactly why I'm liking her.

PARONATOR & BOG MOTIONS OF THE NIGHT PRONATOR VERSION

 

Mellow and laidback, Paronator's version of "Motions Of The Night" is rad. It's got just the right amount of Casio synth drums and that kind of dark dreamy sound that makes you kind of zone out and take it all in. Some of his stuff tends to wander, but with this track he snaps you back at just the right time. Enjoy.

GINGER & THE GHOST ONE TYPE OF DARK TA-KU REMIX

This one is a real creeper. I couldn't get past the first 30 seconds of it for about a week because of what sounds like baby gurgles...but should that deter you? No! It will slowly wind it's way into your brain until you finally listen to the whole thing and begin to look past it's crazy pitch shifting, and into the awesome track that runs through it. Starting light and ending heavy amidst some crazy bass and trip-hop beats, Ta-ku takes this track through a pretty rad ride.

LET'S GET WIERD :: TÂCHES DON'T YOU KNOW

This is the first official single from TÂCHES, to be released April 1st on the French label Paranoiak. This one caught me by surprise. It's well constructed, catchy from the start, and has an addictive melody and pitch-shift vocal sample that I am super into. Minimal in some places and heavy on the bass in others, this one is going to make you move funny and you're going to kind of dig it.

ENERATE UNSTOPPABLE

So you might listen to this and be all like, "WTF is being posted up in here!?" and I will totally understand. That was my reaction too. If you are in a bad mood just scroll right past this one. If you are in the right mood though (chipper and/or optimistic and shit) - it's gonna be golden. It's like sunshine with space synths and bops and everything a grumpy person would hate.

Enerate are out of Australia and this is their pre-release single.

ANDY BULL KEEP ON RUNNING

Andy Bull reminds me of FUN and Mika and JJ (awesome song btw) all smooshed together and rolled into an Australian pop artist. I like that it is formulaic enough to make it catchy, but super disjointed and almost jolty in how it's all laid out. Super fun, super good.

CRYWOLF & IANBORG OCEANS

A bit like: Seven Lions, Adventure Club

While I can't say I'm crazy into dubstep, this track by Justin Phillips aka Crywolf (previously part of the duo "Cry Wolf") and Ianborg delivers without being too heavy handed in the genre. A little bit dubstep, a little bit euphoric synth and melody; I can hang.  His album, Ghosts comes out on Always Never in April.
