JAMES BLAKE VOYEUR [BEAR//FACE BOOTLEG EDIT]

In what might be sacrilege by my part as a music blogger, I don't really listen to James Blake. I always really enjoy his stuff when I do hear it, but I almost prefer the surprise as I've gone this long without really knowing. Plus the remixes are just too good, I don't want to ruin the discovery aspect of the whole thing.

Bear//Face does just that for me with their remix of James Blake's Voyeur. It's a sweeping track that takes the great base the original lays out and just turns it into this epic 3 minute take over. Where the original gets a little jazzy and abstract, Bear//Face focuses on the vocals and just blows it out of the water. Seriously awesome.

UK based Olly Jones aka. SKREAM funks his way into our hearts with this remix of Rudimenal's Hell Could Freeze. The funk he brings to the track compliment Angel Haze's vocals and really make up the quality of the track. It's very different from the original, but I did the late 90's vibe on it.

GRIZZLY BEAR SLEEPING UTE NICOLAS JAAR REMIX

Let's juts skip the part where you have any doubts about this track and just dive in. Featuring remixes of Brian Eno's Lux and grizzly Bear's Sleeping Ute, Nicolas Jaar takes the cake with this year's Record Store Day release. Jaar starts out with the vocals from Grizzly Bear's Sleeping Ute and slowly fades out of them into a haunting deep house driven track. Elegant and pretty light for his style. Don't pass by this one, it's a keeper.

PAROV STELAR ALL NIGHT NICO PUSCH BOOTLEG

You can't argue the greatness of Parov Stelar's amazing track All Night; he lays down the foundation nicely. Nico Pusch takes the good and amps it up a bit, fist by slowing down the tempo, and then by honing in on the driving melody and using that to push the song along. Great listen.

LET'S GET WEIRD :: JOYWAVE TONGUES FT. KOPPS

Self professed neon noir band Joywave debuts their third album 88888, and from that comes our latest "Let's get weird' track, Tounges. This track reminds me a lot of Hot Chips earlier work, and I totally dig the throw back. It's jerky and off the wall in a really fun way. The vocals pop in and out and have these cool droops to the sound that just sort of dissolve out of the main melody. Give it a go - consider it a Coachella palette cleanser.

MO PILGRAM

Copenhagen's MO really came into their own at this year's SXSW. The 24 year old singer has an amazing voice and layers her soulful vocals over a peppy electronic background. This group really caught me off guard in the sense that you can tell they give zero fucks, and I love how the inhibition comes through so purely.

STREAM MO - Pilgram

100TH POST!!

I want to say thank you to everyone who checks out Hardly Stable! 100 posts and almost 5000 views (in two months!!) later, what started out as a small side project has turned into a full fledged obsession. Thanks for sticking with me even on slow weeks (this is hardly my day job) and I promise there is much awesomeness to come!

I fell a bit behind last week so expect a tumble of catch up posts the next few days and to celebrate the 100 I'm thinking of some limited download mix tapes - towards middle of next week. If you have any recommendations, feel free to leave them in the comments!

GHOST LOFT SO HIGH

We're big fans of Ghost Loft over at Hardly Stable, and their new track So High is no exception. Danny Choi's take on the chillwave genre comes off as effortless and relaxing, not boring or over conceptualized like so many other artists. The slowed down tempo and indie vocals make this a perfect weekend or end-of-day track. Chill on.
